Zuideinde 36 was built in 1695 as a mansion. In 1774, the house was bought by the regents of Oostzaan ( landowners) and converted into an orphanage. Almost 170 (!) years since then 'Oostzaan' orphans grew up there. In 1998, the orphanage transferred to the current owners. Together with top designer Piet Boon, the Orphanage has been beautifully renovated, with respect for the rich history. Above the door of the outbuilding are two figurines of a boy and a girl. Between them is the weapon of the municipality of Oostzaan. The sign the girl wears mentions the year 1713, the year in which the property - at the time - has also been renovated. The house is within walking distance of the village's cosy (small) centre. Here you can taste the village's friendliness . And that at less than 5 minutes from teh cities of Amsterdam and Zaandam. Both cities are therefore easy to reach by bike or by boat. And the real bonus is Twiske. This beautiful nature & recreation area, with its freshwater beaches, birch groves, large grazers (Scottish Highlanders and Dutch goats) and of course the striking Twiske mill really seems to come from a fairy tale. The orphanage is a detached classic mansion. Instantly recognizable by the high gutter line. Inside, the high ceilings immediately come into view. Around the mansion lies the garden to the hand of Marcel Woltering. Tight beech hedge lines, forms the base around some garden rooms. A few old trees, give character to the design. You will also find a wooden deck for a boat and the carport with double barn/garage. Several cars you can park with ease, completely out of sight. The smart garden design certainly takes into account the privacy aspect. The long driveway on the South side of the plot, is closed with an electrically operated wooden gate.Layout: Ground floor: Stately entrance, spacious hall with marble floor, two 'rooms' on either side of the hall, are now his & her's offices, TV room/ small living room with fireplace, en-suite connected to the intermediate room (access to the wine cellar) and toilet, very generous - cozy - kitchen with the highest quality equipment. You can even fit the biggest dining table in this part of the house. A lovely 2nd living room on the garden side, is directly connected to the kitchen by double doors. Spacious back hall and 2nd toilet. Second stair case to the 1st floor.1st floor: Landing, 3 bedrooms in the main building, bathroom with bath, shower, double sink and toilet, stair case to the spacious 2nd floor (now attic). In the side wing of the house (with the ability to close off), 2 bedrooms, 2nd bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and double sink, hall, classic multi-person sauna. Washing machine/dryer/ironing room.Significant:
