In the eighteenth century. In the nineteenth century, this region was invaded by Napoleonic troops who plundered it and were quartered here, remaining for about four years, until they were expelled 4 years later, in a struggle that counted on the heroic participation of the population and the help of British troops.
Nowadays, Abrantes is a quiet city, where it is advisable to walk through the streets of white houses that were once considered the most flowery in the country, without missing the opportunity to taste the famous regional sweets made with eggs and sugar - the Tigeladas and Palha de Abrantes.
