This spacious holiday home welcomes you to relax and unwind in the most fantastic region! There is a private terrace where you can start the day with a relaxing cup of coffee and a meal of your choice or enjoy a dip in the swimming pool which is also shared by other guests. There is plenty of space to enjoy the morning sun. The house is an ideal vacation for a large group of friends or families. The Domaine de Romefort is located 20 kilometers from the university town of Limoges. Limoges has around 150,000 inhabitants and is well known for its porcelain. There are many museums and plenty of opportunities for daytime and nighttime activities. Just 5 minutes from the Domaine de Romefort is the medieval village of Saint-Léonard de Noblat. Here you will find cozy cafes, good restaurants and well-equipped supermarkets. The old center of the village is magnificent and the famous church has a particular architecture. It is well known as a tourist village and often markets and various events are held there. To the east of Romefort is the natural site that surrounds the resort of Lac de Vassivière. This 10 square kilometer lake has many beaches and plenty of water sports opportunities. The surrounding forests are ideal for hiking and mountain biking. A 15 minute drive away is a lovely recreational lake (see photo above). The beach of this lake (Lac de Sainte-Hélène) is supervised and suitable for all kinds of activities. Along the domain flows the Vienne which was fitted out in 2000 for the practice of canoeing. The hills are ideal for mountain biking through the forests, or racing bikes on small roads. You can reach us by car, plane or train. There are many cheap flights from Great Britain to Limoges. You will travel from Limoges station to Saint-Léonard de Noblat station in half an hour. If you wish, we can pick you up at the station. The interior of the house is beautiful and appealing to the eyes. The electric heating will keep you warm indoors in the cold weather conditions. La Marguerite is een ruime, geschakelde gîte met karakteristieke elementen en een groot, afgeschermd terras met een prachtig uitzicht over la vallée de la Vienne. Dit luxe en compleet gerenoveerde verblijf ligt op een domein genaamd Domaine de Romefort en biedt comfortabel plaats aan stellen en gezinnen. Samen met de andere gasten beschik je over een ruim omheind zwembad (medio mei t/m medio september), en een ruim speelveld met speeltoestellen. Om optimaal van de tuin te kunnen genieten is er ook een barbecue aanwezig. Domaine de Romefort ligt slechts op 20 km van de gezellige studentenstad Limoges. Er zijn verschillende musea en vele mogelijkheden om een dagje of avondje uit te gaan. Dichterbij huis vindt u het middeleeuwse stadje St. Léonard de Noblat (5 km), met enkele cafés, restaurants en supermarkten. Het plaatsje herbergt een prachtige oude stadskern en een beroemde kerk met bijzondere architectuur. Het is een geliefd oord voor toeristen en met regelmaat worden er markten en evenementen georganiseerd. Op 45 minuten rijden bevindt zich een prachtig natuurgebied rondom het (recreatie-)meer Vassiviere. De sportieveling en natuurliefhebber kan zijn/haar hart hier ophalen: mountainbiken, wandelen, fietsen, zwemmen, kanoën, zeilen, het kan hier allemaal! Rondom het meer bevinden zich meerdere stranden met eetgelegenheden. Dichter bij huis, op 15 minuten rijden, is er een kleiner meertje. Ook is er een fijn strandje met speeltoestellen, ideaal met kleine kinderen. Op 2 km van het domein loopt een riviertje dat geschikt is om te kanoën. Kano’s kunnen gehuurd worden bij de accommodatie (afhankelijk van de waterstand in de rivier). Voor de golfers onder ons liggen er 2 mooie golfbanen in de buurt. Het domein ligt aan de eeuwenoude pelgrimsroute naar Saint Jacques de Compostelle (Spanje) en Rome. Het landgoed is ontstaan doordat pelgrims een veilige plek moesten vinden om te overnachten. Daarna is het lange tijd een onderkomen geweest voor boeren en hun vee. Er zijn in totaal acht gebouwen waarvan drie ooit woonhuizen waren. Nu zijn alle gebouwen omgebouwd tot vakantiehuizen die samen een kleinschalig vakantiepark vormen. Domaine de Romefort, bevindt zich op +/- 800 km van Nederland, dus is tot slot ook goed aan te rijden!
