Perfettamente conservato nei secoli, tanto che il suo enorme prestigio storico è oggi sotto la tutela delle Belle Arti, la dimora è una costruzione originaria del quattrocento, oggetto nel tempo di alcuni importanti interventi successivi, ultimo dei quali un ampliamento sui lati a inizio Novecento ad opera dell'architetto milanese Luigi Comolli, su commissione della contessa Luisa Martinengo Villagana in Medolago Albani. La sua originaria architettura, perfettamente mantenuta, prevede che la struttura si articoli intorno a un affascinante porticato risalente al Cinquecento, su cui svetta l'imponente torre in mattoni a vista inglobata nell'ala est della villa. All'interno del grande porticato si sviluppa il delizioso cortile d’onore, con le colonne che si susseguono simmetricamente intorno al pozzo. Splendidi dipinti del tardo sec. XVI abbelliscono le lunette sotto il portico, donando all'ingresso della villa il suo tipico carattere sontuoso. Dalla balconata panoramica che arricchisce la facciata posteriore del palazzo, la vista si apre sull'ampio parco riccamente piantumato che discende dolcemente lungo la vallata dell’Oglio: un ettaro e mezzo immerso negli splendidi paesaggi della campagna circostante, raffigurati in tutta la loro bellezza negli affreschi della chiesa secentesca che si affaccia sul cortile.
